はいさい!
So, I talked last about the Field trip that we took to learn about Immigration over Golden Week (GW). However, there were 2 more events that happened over GW that were interesting.
First, there was the Naha Hari (dragon boat) race in Tomari Port. It is a three day festival where the last day is the main event!
While our group was there, we got to watch 2 races. One was the different branches of the American military (Marines, Navy, and Air Force I believe) which I just so happen to have a video of:
I don’t know much about the history of the Hari boat races but if you would like to know more, leave a comment below and I’ll try to answer it to the best of my knowledge.
Anyways, we went to watch the Hari on the final day but could only stay for about an hour because our main stop for the day was actually to Sefa-Utaki in the southern part of Okinawa (Chinen Peninsula).
Historically, it was a very sacred site. However, all the buildings have been destroyed so all that’s left are just the pathways and some of the various rock formations.
It has been listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hope that all your days are going well.
Here’s a little heart to brighten your day
