Last Sunday, we could held firstSkill Up Meeting(語学勉強会) in the long run!
日曜日についに初の語学勉強会を開くことができました！
Sho-san, Minami-san and her sister joined us!

What we did on last Sunday are Describe things, Making story, Topic speaking, Reading article!
日曜日にやったのは、物を英語で説明する、ストーリーを作る、トピックに関して自由に話す、移民に関する短い文章を読んで単語や意味の解説です！

Reading airticleはアンケートで要望の多かった課題や読み物に応えられるようなものを作りました！
7月のグロ次の前原さんの講演内容をピックアップしたものを英訳し、留学生のAaron Taira君にも文法や表現などを確認してもらいました！みなさん、ここは必見ですよ～＾＾★

〈The history of Okinawan immigrants to overseas〉
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there were a large number of Okinawans who migrated abroad due to economical reasons.
Through World WarⅡ, these Okinawan immigrants remained and began to live with their families. They were able to adapt to their new communities, and even form their own Uchinanchu communities. (I.e. Peru, etc.) Since then, up until now, the Uchinanchu network has spread even further worldwide.
Since the 20th Century- which was the era of immigration, there are over 250 million people of Japanese ancestry living abroad, and out of those 250 million, 12 percent are of Okinawan ancestry. Thus there are many Okinawans living abroad, and these immigrants of Okinawa have made a vital network and connection for Okinawa. *Furthermore, out of the many living abroad, each has made a vital network and connection for Okinawa.
“Chimugukuru（ちむぐくる❤）” has been succeeded to ancestors of immigrants of Okinawa. “Nankurunaisa（なんくるないさ）” and “Tee-gee-（てーげー）” are good mentality of Okinawa.

〈移民に関する概観〉
１９世紀後半から２０世紀前半にかけて、大多数の沖縄の人々が経済的な理由で海外へ移住し始めた。戦前の沖縄は貧しかったため、海外に出稼ぎに行って儲けようとしたが、戦争がおこって沖縄に帰れなくなったため、その地に居住し始めたのが移民の始まりである。当時、戦後の混乱もあったため移住ブームが起こった。ペルーなどは沖縄の移民社会が形成されていたので、移民しやすかった。このことも移民拡張の要因となった。
20世紀は沖縄にとって移民の時代である。海外に日系が250万人いるうち、沖縄系は35万人で、全体の１２％を占めている。このように、海外のうちなーんちゅはとても多く、移民は沖縄の人にとって欠かせないネットワークとなった。移民の子孫には沖縄の「ちむぐくる」が受け継がれている。「なんくるないさ」「てーげー」は立派な沖縄のメンタリティーである。
